Valves for chlorine gas
Chlorine allows no compromise in material or design. We develop plate valves and check valve inserts for chlorine gas – materials, springs and flow area matched to your medium, pressures and temperatures.

From our production
Pictured: a fully assembled valve insert of plate-valve design, developed for chlorine gas. Valve seat, valve plates and guard are bolted together with the centre bolt. Our design office matched materials and design specifically to this aggressive medium. The insert is supplied for installation in the existing housing.
What matters with chlorine gas
- Dry or wet: dry chlorine can be handled with suitable steels within defined temperature limits. Even small amounts of moisture make it highly corrosive – so material selection depends on moisture content and temperature.
- Valve springs: they are the most highly stressed parts. Depending on the medium we use nickel-based alloys such as 2.4610.
- Material limits: not every corrosion-resistant material is suitable. Titanium, for example, performs well in wet chlorine but must not be used in dry chlorine.
- Cleanliness: oil- and grease-free execution of the valve parts is agreed with you.
Chlorine gas is rarely pure
Depending on the plant, chlorine from electrolysis contains accompanying gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen. They change density and flow behaviour – and with them the right spring force and valve lift. Our software calculates gas mixtures of up to 40 components, so the valve is designed for the actual gas, not a textbook gas.
What we supply
- Plate valves for chlorine gas, calculated for your operating point
- Check valve inserts without housing for installation in existing housings
- Internals and repair kits: valve seats, guards, valve plates and valve springs
- Replicas from a sample or drawing, with a material check for your medium
What we need for a quotation
- Gas composition including moisture content
- Pressures, temperatures and flow rate
- Installation dimensions, housing drawing or the old part
- Quantity and delivery date
Frequently asked questions
Does it matter whether the chlorine is dry or wet?
Yes, decisively. The moisture content determines which materials can be used. Please state it in your enquiry – we check the design for your case.
Do you supply the valve housing?
No. We supply the valve insert with all internals for installation in your existing housing.
Can you replicate an existing chlorine valve insert?
Yes – from a sample, drawing or photos with dimensions. We check materials and springs for your medium in the process.
Send us a drawing, photo or nameplate
Send whatever you have – drawing, photo of the sample, nameplate or operating data. We usually reply within 24 hours on working days and prepare a free, non-binding quotation for you.
