Valve plates for compressor valves

The valve plate is the most heavily loaded part of a compressor valve: it strikes seat and guard on every stroke and must stay tight. Material, thickness and geometry determine its service life. We supply valve plates in PEEK and metal for reciprocating compressors – manufactured to our specifications, to your drawing or from a sample.

Materials

  • Metal: stainless steel, for high temperatures and differential pressures.
  • PEEK: lower mass and therefore less impact energy on seat and guard. Less sensitive to dirt particles and traces of liquid in the gas, and gentler on the valve seat.

Which material fits depends on gas, temperature and differential pressure. We check the operating limits of PEEK in every design.

Switching from metal to PEEK

A PEEK plate is lighter than a metal plate of the same geometry. This changes the opening and closing behaviour of the valve – spring force and lift must be checked as well. We recalculate this for your operating point before switching. More on valve design

Scope of supply

  • Valve plates individually or as a set
  • With matching springs, damper plates and spring plates
  • As a complete repair kit including fasteners
  • For valves of many makes and years, including valves no longer available – for suction and discharge valves and check valve inserts

Frequently asked questions

How do I know the valve plates are worn?

By cracks or breakouts at the webs, worn-in sealing faces, falling capacity and rising temperature at the valve cover.

Do PEEK valve plates last longer than metal?

In many applications yes, but not in all. At high temperatures or large differential pressures metal is often the better choice. We decide based on your data.

Can you supply valve plates without a drawing?

Yes. From a sample or a photo with dimensions we reconstruct the plate.

Send us a drawing, photo or nameplate

Send whatever you have – drawing, photo of the sample, nameplate or operating data. We usually reply within 24 hours on working days.
